Happy New Year

A Very Happy New Year to one and all
We had the most lovely surprise last night.
All my children are adults 29, 26 and 20 and were all out and about doing their own thing partying
at five to twelve our door was chapped and here they all were...
Home to bring in the bells with their mum and dad....well that was me blubbing like a baby
What a wonderful start to the New Year.

As the weather as been dreadful lately
I have been keeping candles at the ready I love candles and holders anyway and
I have wanted to make one of these for ages.

A Jar Candle Holder

I used an old coffee jar that I had and attached a doily
I wrapped brown twine around the jar 3 times and fastened off

I cut out a Diesire Heart Doily in red felt
and adhere to the jar using Collall 3D Gel Glue

Basic Gray Button with brown twine to fine off.
A Yankee votive inside and we are ready for anything.....

Hope you like my first project of 2014.....

I Hope 2014 is an amazing year for you all

Thanks for stopping by....much appreciated!

Sugar Nellie DT ~ To Remember

Good afternoon what an awful day here on the island yuck. As promised I'm back with my first Design Team project for Sugar Nellie. I was uber excited when my package arrived the other day from Karen and I couldn't wait to get started wow I didn't know which stamp to use first lol.
I have chosen "To Remember" by Leanne Ellis.
I love this stamp and when they were first previewed Karen mentioned that they would look brill embossed.....and she wasn't wrong either!

It has been an age since I got the embossing powders and heat gun out.....I forgot how fun it was lol
I stamped To Remember in versamark and then heat embossed using gold embossing powder.

I coloured the flower in her hair using Twinkling H2Os. The ribbon was left overs from the wedding I have a full real of it. Better to have too much than run out lol. The brads are Papermania.

The flower was made using a Tim Holtz die which I think goes perfect with the Textile embossing folder I have used on the bottom of the card.
Candles are so much fun to make here is how I made my candle....

I stamped the image on to tissue paper using Brilliance copper inkpad  and heat set. I cut around the image leaving a small border. Place the tissue paper on the candle and wrapped greaseproof paper around the entire candle. You MUST hold this on to the candle tightly. Heat the image using your heat gun, this melts the wax underneath. The tissue paper sinks into the melted wax. Let the wax dry...then remove the greaseproof paper and voila your image is now on your candle.

I made another flower to match and added the ribbon which I think finishes it off perfecty.

I'm entering this into the following challenges ~

Our Creative Corner ~ Let's Play Dress Up
Anything Goes Challenge ~ Eyelets/Brads
Moving Along With The Times ~ Make your Dreams Come True

I apologise for the quality of my pictures.....its very dull here today so I am using my light tent. I'm still learning with my camera too but hopefully I will get better as the weeks go on.
Thanks for stopping by......
Whatever you are doing today......enjoy! Ali x

Another Silent Night......

Thought I would share this bookatrix that I made for a demonstration I took last year at the church Guild. This was one of the samples and I also demoed how to put the image onto a candle, with hands trembling I might add lol.

........and here are the candles.

I put the verse on the back of the candle.

I was really pleased with how the turned out, the candles were Woolworths Value candles which were super quality, shame I can't get them anymore :(

Simple but effective creations.

Gorjuss Candle to match Card

Over on Splitcoast Stampers there has been a Gorjuss challenge set on the Sugar Nellie area by Karen.

1. you have to stamp part of the image
2. Use a poem or verse, this can be stamped or computer generated.
3. Post a picci on SCS thread and anywhere else you like.
4. Send to a friend.

So here we have mine I thought I would make a candle to go with my first Gorjuss card that I made thus making it into a Gift Set. This is being sent to someone but I can't say who just incase they read my blog. Once they receive it I can tell you. This was such a fun project to make and I'm really pleased with the end result. What do you like? Would you be pleased if you received this as a gift? I hope so.

The Gift Set

Here we have the card and candle together a matching set. Thanks for stopping by hope you are having a good day. Toodles for now.

A Very Productive Morning!

Well as you can see I have had a busy morning this morning. I just love making these candles. The first lot are made using my Stampin Up church stamp and verse, i just love this set and it was well worth the money the quality is fantastic. I put the church on the front of the candle and then added the verse to the back.

The second lot are made using an Anita's poinsettia stamp that I have had for an age the price is still on it and it was £1.99 years ago. It comes out every Christmas and it is one of my most popular Christmas cards I sell using this stamp. I coloured the image using Marvy le Plume II pens and the colour remains vivid compared to when you watercolour the image. The Merry Christmas sentiment is a See D stamp and combined I think works just great.

Well I hope you are having a great day whatever you are up to. For me its back to the grindstone, next on the list "Notebooks"

Thanks for stopping by, toodles.
