Happy Birthday Kirstin

Afternoon folks....today is my eldest daughters Birthday. I can't believe she is 26 today...it feels like only yesterday, this gorgeous girl came into the world and blessed our lives.
Words cannot describe how fabulous she is...the most loving, caring, strong, crazy person you can meet.
I love her to the moon and back!
Now Kirstin is not a girly girl at all, when she was younger she was at her happiest up a tree, normally hanging upside down from it by her t-shirt. Swimming, playing football and wearing her trackies and a baseball cap...no pink dresses for my girl. Purple is however her favourite colour..so here is her card...

Girly but not too girly.....I love Gorjuss things....
All items on the card are from the Gorjuss Ultimate Card kit from Do-Crafts

It's a big card A5 in size......hope you like as much as Kirstin did!

I'm entering this into ~
Crafty Cardmakers ~ Monochromatic Purple

Thanks for stopping by....much appreciated!

The doily is cut using my fabulous new Tonic Doily die...I love these and great value for money

I have used a round topper, border and I cut out the butterfly from the backing card of  one of the topper sheets...waste not want not :)

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today
I hope you all have a fabulous Easter Monday whatever your plans

Simply Gorjuss

A very good afternoon peeps, hope you are all in fine spirits today. Today's card is for the fabby challenge over on

The sweeties have excelled themselves yet again with fabby creations using the sketch provided by the lovely Judy.

Now this morning when I started this card i thought how can I make a CAS card using a sketch. Well yes I think I have achieved this no problem.

A sketch is a wonderful starting point for a card if you  struggle with your mojo sometimes. The Sugar Bowl always provide fabulous sketches and fabulous inspiration from a talented team of girlies. Anyhoo I digress ....back to my card. Simple lines doodled around the edge of the card defines the layer on the sketch. I have used my fabby Gorjuss stamp Little Goth Girl and I have watercoloured her using a mixture of mediums. Distress Inkpads, H2Os & SU inkpad.

I have used a mixture of nesties and Nellie Choice dies to create my focal point of the sketch. I embossed the white small square using Fantasy Flower before I popped my image on using dimensionals.

TOP TIP ~ When cutting out your image leave a small border around the image and it acts like a halo effect and makes your image stand out.

Well that's all from me today folks. I have visitors arriving this week for next weeks wedding. Saturday is the Hen Night and second Stag do .....naughty boys having 2 lol. All of the girlies are going out as Pink Ladies. So its all go go go..... hopefully catch up soon!

Thanks for stopping by!

Splitcoast Stampers Sugar Nellie Challenge

Today's creation is for the fab challenge set by Zoe over on the Sugar Nellie forum on Splitcoast Stampers. Thanks "sweetie" I had never made one of these Diagonal Double Pocket Cards before so I was delighted when I saw Zoe's challenge. It really is easy peasy lemon squeazy. I decided to give the Gorjuss Girls an airing :D ........oh I do love these cuties.

I used Be Loved papers by My Minds Eye which I won in candy on Penny Black Saturday which had been donated by Simply Create. I have added stickles ( Star Dust ) down two of the folds for some sparkle. I have watercoloured my images again using Caran D'Ache supracolor pencils no twinkling this time need to buy more colours

The tag is mounted on DCWV brown card and I stamped the swirl stamp from Stampin ups Baroque Motifs are the edge of the tag using Close to Cocoa again from Stampin Up for effect. Stampin Up ribbon and Martha Stewart Doily punch and voila. I'm pleased with the result although next time I might add some extra embellies.
I'm meant to be out tonight at a Drama rehearsal however not feeling just right tonight so staying in and having an early night.
Thanks for visiting. TTFN.

Sugar Bowl # 24 ~ Marlene's Sketch

A very good afternoon it is balltic here today to say the least. I'm frozen to the bone...Hope you are warm where you are...

Can you believe that today is the last day of November. Scary... I am posting Christmas cards tomorrow and I haven't even finished making them.

Today's card is for the fabby Challenge over at

A fabulous sketch by Marlene with "please Include" being Zig Zag.

I'm ashamed to say I don't take part in this challenge as often as I should. As I own loads of Sweet Sugar stamps. To be honest sometimes I feel embarrased I don't have the latest stamps to take part with and that people don't want to see old ones and sketches scare me too lol. I know I'm being daft but pennies are really tight and I just can't afford to buy all the latest stamps. I am making a huge effort though to join in from now and give the sketches a bash.
I have used one of my favourite stamps from the Gorjuss Range. I have coloured her with my prismacolor pencils.

My zig zag is on Gorjuss girls dress at the bottom, (not sure if this qualifies or not.....) there are also zig zag shapes on the cuttlebug embossing folder too.

I was inspired my the lovely Lillians card.

Here is a wee close up for you.

I'm starting to panic now that I don't have enough cards etc for my sale on Saturday. I have gone into overdrive and will be creating like fury from now till Friday night. Not good for me as I will be snowed under although good for you as i will have lots to post. I hope you will pop by for a look.

*Yes I know, I know the blog background has changed "again" but my pictures are now bigger for you so I'm alot happier.*

Sketch and Stash #13

Well the weather here today is dull and muggy. Not got much planned today so a bit of creating is in order.

I made this card last night for the challenge over on Sketch and Stash run by the ever so talented Becky *waving at you* Fab challenge and lots of inspiration from the DT.

My new stash is the scrummy Papermania Blueberry Hill paper pad a bargain at £2.19 from Trago Mills in Truro. Real bargain prices My Daisy and Dandelion stamps were only £2.49. I got Forever Friends Christmas stamp set for £6.19 wow now that is value for money eh? (Wendy definitely worth a visit to Liskeard Trago)
Anyway back to me card :D more New stash is Gorjuss girl stamp which I have had since the singles were launched only opened last night shhh don’t tell my hubby :D and new Prima flowers from my local craft shops sale and i added some card candy in the centre of the flowers. Corners are made using sizzix sizzlet corner die.
Well I’m off for a cuppa and some lunch, hope you have a fab day whatever you are doing.

Sugar bowl #11 - Kathy Sketch with Pearls

The weather here today is SCORCHIO! hope it is where you are too…….. don’t forget your sun cream.

Today’s card is for The Sugar Bowl Challenge which is a fab sketch by Kathy with the option to include “Pearls”

Stunning cards as always form by the design team. thank you for your constant inspiration girls.

~Card Recipe~
I have decided to start decorating the insides of my cards instead of using an insert. Too much waste of paper with inserts and it’s great for using up those scrap bits of design paper too.
I know I know way behind the times but I’m getting there!

Quite plain to start off with easing myself in gently, what do you think?
Have a super Friday and enjoy the bank holiday weekend .

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

ABC Design Team Card

Good morning everyone and here we are another week gone by. Wednesday is ABC day and what fabulous creations we had last week you all liked making cards for a child. Thank you so much to everyone who played along last week and also a warm welcome to any new creators joining in for the first time. I love visiting all your blogs and seeing your scrummy creations.

Another letter of the alphabet gone so now we are on to "D" so what is D for then?

"D" is For "DISTRESSING"

  • Stamp - Gorjuss Girl by Sugarnellie, freebie stamps from mag
  • Ink - Close to Cocoa SU, Versacolor Umber
  • Card size - 6" square
  • Technique - Lyra crayons and waterbrush
  • Papers - Anna Griffin
  • Envelope punch - Woodware
  • Cuttlebug - Script embossing folder

Get out your distress inks, sandpaper, files you name it and get distressing that card. i have embossed my tag with script cuttlebug folder and then sanded it with some sandpaper and inked over the top with a versacolor inkpad. I inked around the edges of my paper and tag too with Close to cocoa. the swirls were from a freebie stamp set in a magazine and I randomly stamped a few on the paper around the edges for effect. I have added a marabou feather behind the tag, scrummy. My Gorjuss girl is coloured using my Lyra crayons and a waterbrush and then cut out. All the other embellishments are from my stash. This card is for my mum for Mother's day so I will be making a box for it. Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your distressed cards. Have a super day.

Only one more sleep to the SECC :)

Gorjuss Candle to match Card

Over on Splitcoast Stampers there has been a Gorjuss challenge set on the Sugar Nellie area by Karen.

1. you have to stamp part of the image
2. Use a poem or verse, this can be stamped or computer generated.
3. Post a picci on SCS thread and anywhere else you like.
4. Send to a friend.

So here we have mine I thought I would make a candle to go with my first Gorjuss card that I made thus making it into a Gift Set. This is being sent to someone but I can't say who just incase they read my blog. Once they receive it I can tell you. This was such a fun project to make and I'm really pleased with the end result. What do you like? Would you be pleased if you received this as a gift? I hope so.

The Gift Set

Here we have the card and candle together a matching set. Thanks for stopping by hope you are having a good day. Toodles for now.

Gorjuss Day!

It really is a Gorjuss Day and not just the weather. My stamps arrived this morning and I have had the afternoon having a play. I LOVE THEM!!!!! I knew in my head what I wanted to acheive with them and it has turned out better than I thought. I would just like to say that the photo does nothing for it to be honest couldn't get any better than this however it is being sent to someone so when they get it they might be able to get a better picci for you. The card was made using See D stamp (I know See Ds! I have over 101 sets of them *blush*) I used a mixture of morsels for the ferns and the tree at the top. The fairy house stamp is one I bought at the SECC in October A company called Lavina stamps. The girl who demonstrates at the shows for them oozes talent and there stamps are perfect to go with the Gorjuss girls in my opinion. I'm utterly disappointed that according to there website they will not be at the SECC in March :( I have popped my Gorjuss girl up on pinflair glue for dimension. So what do you think? Over to you!!!!

  • Stamp - Gorjuss Collection 1 by Sugar Nellie, See D morsels, Fairy House by Lavina Stamps
  • Technique - Lyra watercolour crayons
  • Ink - Papermania pigment purple, versafine black
*Edited to say remember QVC craft tomorrow DCWV, Rosemerry Merry and American Crafts Wooohoo oh yeah and Desperate Housewifes New Series starts tonight too. Me thinks there will be lots of image colouring tonight and tomorrow.
