Decorative Circles Tutorial

Today I thought I would share with you a clever technique using your border punches. I have to admit this is not my idea. My lovely fellow Crafty Friend Clare gave us a link to a tutorial on how to do this technique although when I tried it I wasn't really happy with it. I decided to have a play about with it and have adapted it to my own prefrences.

I have used red to make it stand out for you in my tutorial however I think delicate pastels would look very pretty also.
Tutorial 2 - Fancy Edges
You Will Need

  • Martha Stewart Border Punch
  • A4 paper
  • Circle from card
  • Small pair scissors
  • cellotape or DSST (double sided sticky tape)
 1. Punch 2 strips with your border punch along the longest side of your A4 card.
    2. Cut small triangles from the bottom edge of your strip all the way along. Do this on both strips.
    3. Take a circle. I have run mine through my cuttlebug using Floral Fantasy folder first before I start this stage. Start at the bottom of the circle. Begin to tape the border to the back of the circle using cellotape. I found taping after 2 tabs was better and it kept it secure. Ease the border into shape as you go along.
    4. Continue all the way around the edge of your circle. At some point you will need to join in the other strip. Continue until you have completed your circle and it looks like this.
*Note ~ if you are using a small circle you will probably only need one strip.

    ...and the finished result.
I hope that I have inspired you enough to give it a try. I would love to see your results too so if you give it a try, leave me a comment and I will visit you.
This card is for my MIL for Mother's Day and will be going all the way to Egypt as MIL and FIL and 4 others are heading on holiday tomorrow. I am giving the card to her sister to give her when thay are away. She'll think I've forgotton lol.
    Thanks for stopping by! TTFN
